Mathematical Computer Graphics: Introduction

These pages illustrate a few of the ways mathematics can be used to create computer graphics. Mathematicians such as Descartes developed ways to represent mathematical functions graphically in order to understand the mathematics better. Here I am doing the opposite of that: using mathematics as a means of creating better images. I tried to write this so that a high school student taking calculus would be able to follow it. I haven't listed the names of all the researchers who first developed these methods because it would overwhelm someone new to the subject. If you are interested in learning more about a topic, I have provided a page of links to get you started.

All the images on this page were created using various mathematical techniques.
