Pages 13 and 16

These pages use an eight-panel layout. Note the sheer number of V's and reflective surfaces. While there aren't many obvious connections among the panels in this spread (just wait till the next one), there are some significant correspondences between pages in sequence. There's a fairly obvious link from 12.9 with its ominous newspaper headline to the secretary's link in 13.1 ("Time's running out"). Things are a bit more subtle on pages 16 and 17, where the skull and crossbones in 17.1 picks up the X-pattern of the Veidt's golden monogram and its reflection in 16.8.

16.4 may be the most ironic panel in the whole book.
