It's a blank screen, an empty letter, a null citation -- all the other features promised on the cover are indeed to be found on the pages within... except this one.
So what's the deal? Is Newsweek not virtually getting any? Or could it be there's nothing to get?
Not that the subject of sex is entirely neglected. In the February 16-17 Newsweek poll, 85 percent of respondents think the Internet makes it too easy for "young people" (i.e. middleclass white boys) to get pornography. 80 percent are worried about being "virtually stalked" through e-mail, and 76 percent think this might turn into actual stalking. After the recent "Jake Baker" case in Michigan, these numbers aren't surprising.
But while we're on the subjects of pornography, fetishism, deviance, and "virtual sex," why confine ourselves to computers?
