Fifty Big Ones

Newsweek has put together a great list, full of diverse and intriguing people who have done amazing things and no doubt will do more.

But lists like this are always a little disappointing, and not just because most of us never make the cut. They're disappointing because of the other people who are also left out, the people we know who might actually amount to something, or who illuminate our own obscure corners of existence.

One of the nice things about the World Wide Web, and its emerging artform called the Home Page, is that it lets us keep lists and directories of our own. I think everybody should have one.
