Not!

Why are we still writing books and articles? The WorldWideWeb is here, now. The Web has thousands of readers and tens of thousands of documents. Considered as a whole, it is the most complex and ambitious writing project ever undertaken. How could anyone not want (desperately) to be a part of this?

Is it really a question of "preaching to the converted?" Do we need to proselytize? Or is it more important to explore what it is we can do with this technology -- which is not, after all, a doctrine or a faith.

When I wrote this essay two and a half years ago, I believed as Taylor and Saarinen do (or did when they wrote their book). Perhaps I too will seem like a preacher in this essay.

Mea culpa.
