the home page of Nancy Kaplan, Professor and Director of the School of Information Arts and Technologies at the University of Baltimore. The School of Information Arts and Technologies offers a number of undergraduate and graduate degree programs, including our M.S. in Interaction Design and Information Architecture, a B.S. in Applied Information Technology, a B.T.P.S. in Simulation and Digital Entertainment, Certificates in New Media Publishing and Information Design, and a Doctor of Communications Design (DCD). My current work includes a three-year grant from NSF to develop an intergenerational design team with faculty, graduate students, and children. The SIAT kidsTeam, in collaboration with a team at the University of Maryland's Human Computer Interaction Lab, is helping to develop interfaces for the International Children's Digital Library. The School of Information Arts and Technologies is also the home for the Center for Community Technology Services, which provides the Baltimore region's small- and medium-sized nonprofit organizations with support for their IT needs. We are using a service-learning approach to involving students in helping nonprofits and have been awarded a Learn and Serve America grant from the Corporation for National and Community Service.
