Start Now: Only 35% of how you age is determined by genetics, the rest is determined by your lifestyle, environment, and other factors, many of which you can control and change. Learn Something New: Practicing new techniques in a learning situation you are exercising many regions of the brain. Become a Lifelong Learner: Research indicates lifelong learners tend to take better care of themselves, to be more aware of current health issues and breakthroughs, and to show an increase in IQ. Eat brightly colored foods: For a general rule of thumb, anything brightly colored is brain food (just as crunchy fruits and vegetables, in general, are anti-cancer foods). Sleep Well: Short term memories transfer to long term memories during REM sleep periods. Move More: Regular physical activity can improve cognitive functions.
