S
is for serpent
ringed around the moon
whose least insinuation spills
opalescent clouds, tales of angelic arsons
across the uninhabitable charred acres, the dark
drift of him churning unspeakable translations in his wake
tail in mouth, the snake rolls golden proud
against the slow black radiance of space
S is for silence and the light aloud
and the serpent's
trace
