Selected Work from 2001

This page lists sixteen projects submitted in response to the four major assignments in the course.

Any process of selection leaves stories untold. Many of this term's projects were remarkable in some respect; most reflected notable effort and advancement on the part of particular students. Unfortunately, it's not feasible to keep all projects on-line.

The projects represented here are notable for their conceptual strength, Flash technique, and aesthetics. They also reflect a range of responses to the assignments and may be useful as examples to future classes.

Assignment 2: Banners

This assignment required students to create three simple Flash banners: an identity piece, and advertisement for the School of Communications Design, and a third banner that must motivate the user to click.

Assignment 3: Narrative

This assignment required students to tell a story in multiple media with at least two significant occasions for interactivity or parallel content.

Assignment 4: Scripting

This assignment asked students to take advantage of ActionScript for some significant part of their project. Options included implementation of techniques demonstrated in class (e.g., draggable masking), or original programming projects, such as games.

Assignment 5: Final Project

For this assignment, students could invent practical tests of theoretical propositions encountered in the course, experiment with interface and design, or develop major pieces for their portfolios.
