Yossakrai Saithong has brought to my attention a potential problem with Fetch, the standard FTP program for Macintosh. You don't need to worry about this problem if you are a Windows user. If you ever use the Macs in the Graphics Lab for FTP, however, read on.
If you download a Flash authoring file (.fla), attempt to open it, and see an "Access Denied" message, do the following:
- Go to the Customize menu in Fetch and select the Preferences
option.
- Select the Download tab in the resulting dialog box.
- The first option on this tab says: "Automatic" Defaults to "Text". If this option is checked, it is the cause of your problem. Make sure this option is unchecked.
