Selected Work from 2002

This page lists several projects submitted in response to the four major assignments in the course.

Any process of selection leaves stories untold. The projects represented here are notable for their conceptual strength, Flash technique, and aesthetics. They also reflect a range of responses to the assignments and may be useful as examples to future classes.

Assignment 2: Banners

This assignment required students to create two simple Flash banners: a personal identity piece and a banner that motivates the user to click for further information.

Assignment 3: No Simple Way To Say This

This assignment required students to tell a story in multiple media with several significant occasions for interactivity and parallel content.

Assignment 4: Scripting

This assignment asked students to take advantage of ActionScript for some significant part of their project. Options included implementation of techniques demonstrated in class (e.g., draggable masking), or original programming projects, such as games.

Assignment 5: Final Project

For the final assignment, students could invent practical tests of theoretical propositions encountered in the course, experiment with interface and design, or develop major pieces for their portfolios.
