This page gives step-by-step instructions for replacing the visual content in the dynoMask project template.
- Download dynoMaskTemplate.fla from MMShare/dynoMask/ on Crow.
Open the source file in Flash.
- The current size of the movie is 550x400 pixels. If you intend to use
a different screen geometry, change the movie dimensions now.
(This is the step I disastrously omitted in the March 20 demo.)
Your images must cover the entire visible screen.
- Open the Library. In the list of resources you will see two movie
clips called upper and lower.
The first of these clips holds the graphic for what seems to be the
top level of view, the layer which the draggable mask appears to cut away;
in the template file it is the dim, misty view of the people on the beach.
The second clip holds the apparently lower image which is revealed only
as the mask travels over it; here, the full daylight shot of the beachcombers.
- Open Movie Clip upper for editing by double-clicking its entry in the
Library. Insert a new layer in its timeline.
- Select the first frame of this new layer. Go to the File menu
and select Import. Navigate to the image you wish to use as your
upper graphic and Import it. This image must have the same dimensions as your movie! Set the position of the image so that it is centered on the registration
point. In the template the upper graphic is positioned at -275, -200, which
centers the 550x400 pixel image.
- Delete the original layer in upper.
- Open Movie Clip lower in the Library. Insert a new layer in its timeline.
- Select the first frame of the new layer and Import your lower graphic.
Set the position of this image to 0,0.
- Delete the original layer in lower.
- Perform a Save As to give your project a new name. Your movie is now ready to test.
