This recipe is my cousin Joel's version of those he found in an excellent book, "Dr. Pitcairn's Complete Guide to Natural Health for Dogs and Cats." There are other meats and grains than can be used in addition to those shown. The proportions can also vary depending on what you feel is best for your pet. Anyone who is serious about understanding how to make food for pets should get a copy of Dr. Pitcairn's book.
Polenta: Bring 4 cups water to boil. Add polenta, stirring rapidly with whisk to keep from lumping.
When thoroughly blended cover and simmer on low 10-15 minutes.
Oats: Bring 4 cups water to a boil. Add oats, cover and turn off heat.
Let the oaks cook in the hot water for about 10 minutes or until soft.
When grain is cooked (boil off excess liquid if too watery) first stir eggs and oil into hot grain. Then mix in remaining ingredients. Add taurine last.
Yield: about 9 cups. Sprinke with Healthy Powder.
