Due Tuesday, April 6 at 8:15 PM
Background: In this assignment you'll build a portfolio-ready Web site promoting a real or fictional enterprise, either commercial or not-for-profit. Since it comes due later in the course, this assignment will also give you the chance to apply more advanced design techniques such as tables and stylesheets
General Requirements:
- Construct a new directory in your Student-IAT personal folder called promotional. Also build a subdirectory within promotional called images. All your graphics must be stored there.
- Create a Web site with at least five pages: an entry page and at least four subsidiary pages: you can think of these as department pages devoted to specialized topics.
If you go beyond the basic five pages, you may want to create subdirectories for each department
and adjust your navigation accordingly.
- Create a linking or navigation system that allows the user to move smoothly around the site. This navigation must permit multiple paths of exploration.
- The content of your Web site should describe the mission or (commercial) purpose of a real or fictional company or organization. IMPORTANT: if you choose an existing entity
you must obtain permission. You may not use copyrighted logos, trademarks, or other symbols without written consent.
- The purpose of your Web site is to inform the general public and make them interested in supporting the organization if it is non-profit or doing some further business with the company if it is commercial, such as buying its products, investing in the company's stock, or applying for a job. You are not required to produce a retail storefront, though you may attempt
a limited version of one if you like.
- You must use at least one table on each page, at minimum to constraint the right margin.
I encourage you to make more interesting use of tables.
- You must use Cascading Style Sheets to control font and other text features.
The following features must be styled:
- Main body text, styled either on the paragraph container or on a general DIV;
- At least one level of heading;
- Link cues;
- Small text for the footer or picture captions (see below).
You may style other elements as well.
- Main body text, styled either on the paragraph container or on a general DIV;
- You must incorporate at least one image on each page. Every image must be accompanied by a caption.
- Every page except the entry page must have a footer section giving contact information for the author, date of production, and copyright. (Note: there's no FOOT container; incorporate your footer in the BODY.)
