About the Final Exam

The final examination for this course will be given at our last class meeting. You will have two and a half hours to complete the work. The exam will be identical to the Hypermedia Proficiency Exam.

Here is a reasonably complete list of skills and concepts you will need for the exam. Note that imagemapping, stylesheets, and JavaScript are not covered.

  • Table layout: construct a page whose width is fixed and whose elements are arranged according to a regular grid structure.

  • Doubly-anchored links: Write link constructions with both departure and arrival cues (or arrival points).

  • Deploy graphics: Write the necessary tag to introduce an in-line graphic element.

  • Work with relative file references: Write link and graphics calls using relative (rather than fully-qualified) file pathways.

  • Construct a simple form: Build a form including one-line text input boxes, a textarea, and buttons for submitting and resetting the form; give the form an ACTION of MAILTO.

  • Construct a simple frameset: Build a two-column frameset with main content in the left window and a table-of-contents page in the right; manage links on the righthand page so that they target the left frame.

  • Transfer files: Use an FTP client to transfer your files to your personal folder on Cow.
