Readings for Week Eight
Instead of discussing a set of texts everyone has read in class next week, we are going to explore the experiences we have with digital libraries and share our "findings." So please be prepared to give the class a synopsis of the most important piece or pieces you read.
Read the current issue of D-Lib (www.dlib.org). Then use the site's search utility to do a quick history of one of the issues you read about in this month's publication.
Visit the online library of the ACM (www.acm.org). Conduct a search to elaborate on the work you did with D-Lib.
Take some notes on your search strategies, your results (too many hits, too few, your reactions to the hit lists you received, what you would like to be different in the way information is requested and results are produced).
Make sure you read at least 3 articles in addition to the current ones in this month's D-Lib.
