Project: Develop a banner advertisement for a fictitious product or service. Your Flash movie must contain at least two scenes. The second scene will be accessible only if the viewer clicks in the first scene. Your concept must successfully motivate the viewer to click.
Advice: Try to demonstrate a range of design techniques, including scaling, color/alpha effects, linear animation, irregular paths (using motion guides), and possibly sound. You will need at least one simple button action, but no elaborate scripting is required at this point.
Specifications:
- Prepare your banner with a width of 600 pixels and a height of 200 pixels.
Maximum file size for the Shockwave file (.swf) is 50 kilobytes.
- Name your source file yourLastName.Assn1.fla. (Fill in your name.)
In Windows the ".fla" extension is added automatically; Mac users will have to
do this manually.
- Using File Transfer Protocol (FTP), upload this source file to your Assignment2 directory on Crow.
Remember that this directory is within your main directory (the one that has the same
name as your login).
- Use File>Publish
Settings to configure your output as follows:
- Name the HTML page index.htm
- Set graphics quality in the Shockwave Flash movie (.swf) to 100%.
- Name the HTML page index.htm
- Publish your movie and supporting Web page using
File>Publish.
Transfer both the Shockwave file and the Web page to your Assignment2 directory.
- Using File>Export Image, generate a static JPEG at 600x200 px for your banner movie.
Be sure to use the highest JPEG quality setting.
This image should represent an appropriate state or moment in the movie.
Transfer this file to the Assignment2 directory.
- Now create a link from the index page of your main directory to the index page within
the Assignment2 directory. Edit the main index page as follows:
Replace the current graphic in row 2 with the JPEG you exported from your
banner movie. Leave the dimensions set to 300x100 and don't
change the anchor container, which should have been correctly written when you created
the page.
- Write a brief note indicating any strategies and features used in this assignment of which you are especially proud. Place this note in the second cell of row 2 of your main index page.
