APPLIED SIMULATION -Ventrilo Information- For the most part of the semester--especially during the software simulation part--we looked at ways to do simulations and training completely on the computer. Now, we're going to look at a few ways to keep the computer involved but to get the user away from the monitor and actually working "in the real world." Augmented Reality is one of the catch phrases of that sort of movement. Since I've not done this sort of thing, I can't speak with great authority on how it's all done, and so forth. But we will examine and discuss articles that deal with the concepts.
Skim through this .pdf document and get the gist of the idea: Liver Surgery Planning with Virtual Reality. Here's something that shouldn't be new news to you: PacMan Hits the Streets Mixed Reality Military Training (particularly the media button): MrMout YouTube Video: Augmented Reality & Physics Pop-up Books: Augmented Reality by Hitlabs University of Central Florida's Institute for Simulation and Training held a conference on Exhibition of Simulation Research for Entertainment And here's a paper I wrote for the Game Concept and Design class that explores the use of other input devices: Just Input That Anywhere.
