Usability Testing Procedures &
Testing reports

Test Plan Development:
To test the games for usability, two tests will be conducted: Questionnaire Testing and Think Aloud testing.

Questionnaire Testing:
Prepare a questionnaire that captures demographic information and specific questions about your team's game. In Week 13, the class will play your game and respond to the questionnaire. Use Week 3's Playtest Report as a guide.

Think Aloud Testing:
Prepare a script for a Think Aloud Test that you will administer with the assistance of five participants. Select the five participants representative of the special populations studied in Week 8. Use the RITE method to maximize the knowledge you gain after each test session.

Include in the script an introduction to the participants about the procedures for the test and include at least two tasks that the participants will try to complete. One team member takes the role of observer and another as note taker. A third team member will observe the emotions of the participant and record significant expressions. Capture at least one of the Think Aloud sessions on video. Edit the video to isolate a clip of a memorable moment in the test and include the clip in the Playtesting Report.

Playtesting Report:
Include the test plans created today and an analysis of the information you gathered during the testing phases. Be prepared to present your findings at the Week 14 class meeting.

Final revisions to the Game and Playtesting Reports are due Week 14. With prior approval of the instructor, teams may elect to deliver their product Week 15.
