Grading Guidelines for Final Exam

The following list contains some of the more common errors we have observed on the final exam and Hypermedia Proficiency Exam, along with the number of points you will lose if you commit them. These are not the only errors subject to penalty--I may also deduct for mistakes not mentioned here.

Grave Errors (-20 points)

  • Frameset page does not load.
  • No images load.
  • Main content or form page are blank.

Serious Errors (-15 points)

  • Some images load, but 3 or more are missing.
  • Images are loaded from the wrong directory.
  • HREFs in links are not relative.
  • Link to content or form page missing.

Significant Errors (-10 points)

  • More than one non-functional link.
  • More than one instance of incorrect link targeting.
  • Arrival points missing.
  • Files installed in wrong directory.
  • Frameset page not named index.htm
  • Table not used to structure form.

Regrettable Errors (-5 points)

  • One non-functional link.
  • One instance of incorrect link targeting.
  • One missing graphic.
  • Form ACTION not set up properly.
  • Images not properly aligned in table.
  • Arrival points present but mishandled.
  • Table width not set or set inappropriately.
  • Content missing from table.
  • Content missing from form.
