About Alternative Homework Assignments

Beginning October 16, I'll be offering a series of alternative homework assignments. Some of these will substitute for the regular assignments. The first such assignment does not, but instead supplements the regular assignment due October 30.

The alternative assignments are meant to provide more complicated and challenging applications of basic Web design concepts. If you've been working ahead of the course, the alt-assignments may help you avoid boredom and better refine your skills.

On the other hand, suppose you're happy just to be holding your own in this class--which is absolutely fine. Basic Web design isn't rocket science, but likewise it doesn't come easily to everyone (my gradeschool teachers used to say the same thing about algebra, which was very difficult for me). Also, I know that some of you are working under heavy career and family obligations.

So let me emphasize that these are OPTIONAL assignments. No one is required to take them on. It is entirely possible to earn a top mark in this course without doing any of the alternative assignments.

Alternative assignments may not be used for extra credit in the course. After the first offering, they will substitute for the regular homework.
