GoogleMaps Code Explained
I've posted a new page giving a detailed discussion of the two GoogleMaps demonstrations shown November 17. This information could be helpful if you are thinking about the Geo-Quiz option for the final project.
Late-Semester News
Several people have written me (and the class) with questions about the Reverse Engineering project and the final assignment. Though I've been a bit distracted this week by a family medical emergency, I am aware of your concerns, and have these observations and suggestions:
- Deadline for the Reverse Engineering paper is extended to December 1 (after Thanksgiving break). I will post some advice about this assignment on this site later in the week of November 16.
- Please concentrate on your final project proposals for November 17.
- Results from the Midterm are good. Most of the class have solid understanding of JavaScript and XML. Some of you are finding the work difficult, but are succeeding nonetheless. A few folks are struggling, but there is hope.
- I've written up a structured final project involving a mashup of our Quiz Engine and the new GoogleMaps material. If you're stuck for a final project idea, please consider this one.
- I will identify evening and afternoon hours during the last three weeks of the term in which I will be available for consultation, coaching, and problem solving. I plan only one more new JavaScript project, for the December 1 class. We'll use the December 8 class for a final project clinic. I'll have hours the following week as well.
- By class time November 17, everyone in class will have a working account on student-iat.ubalt.edu. I apologize to those of you who did not have working accounts November 10.
