Group Outlines

By October 10, each group needs to post a document briefly describing its project for the semester and specifying each participant's area of research.

The project description should include 2-3 sentences setting the stage and defining the problem or issue the project aims to address, 2-3 sentences (or more if needed) outlining the scope of the application or service, and a brief discussion of the intended audience. The whole description should not require more than 203 paragraphs.

After the project description, each group needs to write a few sentences that will begin to define the research areas each group member will pursue. One way to think about this aspect of the group outline is to say something like, in order for our application/service to accomplish x or y function, we will need to know .... The areas for research can include technical issues but should primarily be focused on understanding the knowledge domain and the needs of end users.

Each member of the class should by now have some kind of index page on his/her student-iat web site. The Group Outline should be posted to the student-iat server somewhere in the directory of the group's project manager. Every member of the group needs to include a link to the Group Outline from her/his index page or the home page for this course.
