Final Project Assignment
Due on the server Friday, December 19.
The final project, worth 25% of your grade, should represent three weeks work. You may choose one of the options described below, or propose an original project. If you come up with your own project, you must clear it with me via e-mail.
Options
- Shameless Imitation
- Return to our earlier stylistic imitation assignment (Homework 10-08). Produce four more imitation pieces. This time, modify FOUR GRAPHICS each in the style of A DIFFERENT ARTIST. Include at least one model to identify the style and approach of the artist you have chosen. Make your component graphics 500x500 pixels, and deliver them as a fourfold spread, 1000x1000 pixels (as you did for the Midterm).
- Photoshoplifting
- Produce four modified photographs, using Photoshop techniques to alter the original graphic in some clever and nefarious way. No pornography allowed, though celebrity heads are fair game in every other respect. Make your component graphics 500x500 pixels, and deliver them as a fourfold spread, 1000x1000 pixels (as you did for the Midterm).
- Storyboard
- Using DAZ Studio (or any other means you prefer, such as digital photography), create a storyboard for a short scene in a film, animation, or game. Your storyboard must include at least eight component images, and these images must describe a coherent set of actions involving cause and effect, if not a complete story. Images need not be all the same size and shape. Composite them in Photoshop. Consider interesting and evocative layout possibilities.
- Characters Welcome
- Create a series of images (at least four) describing/defining a character from a game you would like to create. Draw freehand, modify source images, or generate images from DAZ Studio. Make your component graphics 500x500 pixels, and deliver them as a fourfold spread, 1000x1000 pixels (as you did for the Midterm).
Deliverables
Create a new subdirectory in your COSC160 folder, and name it final. For Imitation, Photoshoplifting, and Characters, upload a fourfold graphic named final.jpg. For Imitation, also upload at least one model (artist) image. For the Storyboard option, upload one ore more images. Link all images appropriately from your main page, as you have done for the homeworks and midterm.
As always, I WILL NOT GRADE WORK THAT IS NOT PROPERLY SUBMITTED; SO CHECK YOUR WORK.
Also please understand that the deadline for this assignment is ABSOLUTE, because I must submit grades shortly afterward. If you cannot make the deadline, you must file for an Incomplete grade. To do this, you MUST see someone in the College of Liberal Arts Dean's office. I cannot arrange Incompletes for you.
